Instructions
Cake
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 8 inch round baking pans. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. 3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla extract. 4. Add in the dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk and oil. Mix just until incorporated. 5. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. 6. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans. Cool completely before icing.
Icing
1. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, cream, vanilla extract, and salt until light and fluffy.
Assembly
1. Place one layer of the cake on a cake stand or serving plate. Spread with a layer of icing. 2. Place the second layer of cake on top. Cover the entire cake with the remaining icing. 3.
