Rustic Bridal Shower Cakes

So let's get started! ## Recipe and Instructions #### What You'll Need * 2 cups all-purpose flour * 1 teaspoon baking powder * 1 teaspoon baking soda * 1/2 teaspoon salt * 1 cup (2 sticks) butter * 1 1/2 cups sugar * 4 large eggs * 2 teaspoons vanilla extract * 2/3 cup buttermilk #### Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease two 9-inch round cake pans; line bottoms with parchment paper, and grease parchment. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside. 3. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until each is incorporated, scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Beat in vanilla. 4. With mixer on low, add flour mixture in three batches, alternating with two additions of buttermilk, and beating until combined after each. 5. Divide batter between prepared pans. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center of cakes comes out clean, about 30 minutes. Let cool in pans 10 minutes. Turn out onto wire racks; peel off parchment, and let cool completely. 6. Place one cake layer, top side up, on a cake stand or serving plate. Spread with a layer of frosting. Top with second layer, and spread remaining frosting over top and sides of cake.
